Legolas was one of the most skilled warriors in the battle to defend Middle-Earth from the terror of Sauron, but his story extends far beyond The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. The son of the Elven king Thranduil of Mirkwood, Legolas joined the Fellowship of the Ring at Rivendell and went on to be a significant factor in several of the major battles that ultimately led to Sauron’s downfall. The movies depict his personality from the novels fairly accurately, as they do his friendship with Gimli along their travels across Middle-Earth.
